Samuel House was 24 years old when he enlisted at Coshocton, Ohio, on June 13, 1861. He served for three years in Company K, and with the Field & Staff. Samuel began his service as a private. He received a promotion to hospital steward on April 30, 1862.

Following his muster out with the regiment on June 24, 1864, Samuel House returned to Coshocton County. No further information is known regarding his whereabouts.
